Carbon Management Strategies
The Carbon Trust
The retail sector is responsible for over 5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. It is estimated that energy savings of up to 20%, equivalent to more than £300 million, are possible across the sector.
Make these simple improvements to the areas with the biggest carbon saving potential in your sector.
- Refrigeration: Ensure your system is set at the right temperature. Even if its 1oC lower than needed, your costs could rise by 2-4%.

> More advice for making your lighting more efficient - Heating: Don't turn up the heating unless you really need to. Try to keep your thermostat at 19oC as your heating costs will increase by 8% each time you turn the temperature up by just one degree.
